Has anyone had this problem? car runs perfectly for approx 70 miles them turbo fails, turn ignition off and on and turbo ok for a while then goes again every time ignition is switched off and on the time between fault reduces, any ideas?

1. Vacuum circuit - i.e. pipes and joints - you have a leak.

2. MAF

I doubt the problem lies with the vacuum circuit, why would it have less vacuum after 70ish miles?

Could be a lot of things though including the manifold pressure sensor.

I think this one is a VAG-COM job.

I changed the MAF yesterday and covered about 95 miles with no turbo drop off, hope thats it?

Its a nightmare if you are overtaking in the outside lane, no power at all, I drove back from France like it had to do about 90 downhill to get up the other side at about 30, lorries passing, caravans passing women pushing prams passing very very embarrassing.

I have had exactly the same problem. I have replaced the turbo unit, the Air Management Valve and the Air Mass sensor was replaced 2 years ago. I have re-booked it back into the ford dealer next week. The intermiitent loss on the turbo seems to be corrected, but there is now a loss of power at low revs. It may have to go into a diesal specialist if they cant find the fault.
